Frequently asked questions
Do you charge for an estimate / measurement?
Estimates are completely free — a specialist measures on site, goes over your options, and gives you the exact price before any work is done.
How much do new windows cost?
It depends on how many windows, the material, and the style, so the specialist measures and gives you the exact price up front — and the estimate is free.
How soon can you come / how long does it take?
We can usually schedule a free measurement quickly. Custom windows take some time to be made after you order, and the specialist will give you a clear timeline.
My window is broken / shattered
I'm sorry that happened — please keep everyone away from the glass and don't touch the shards. We can board it up to keep your home secure and get a specialist out to measure for the new one.
My windows are foggy / cloudy between the panes
That's a common reason people call us — the specialist will take a look and go over your best options to get clear windows again, with the exact price up front.
My windows are drafty / my energy bills are high
Newer energy-efficient windows make a big difference with drafts and bills — the specialist can measure and go over efficient options that fit your home and budget.
Do you do vinyl / wood / a specific brand?
Yes, we install vinyl, wood, fiberglass, and more, and work with the major brands — the specialist will help you pick the right material for your home.
Do you install egress windows?
Yes, we install egress windows to code for basement bedrooms and living spaces — the specialist will look at the space and go over what's needed.
Do you repair windows or only replace them?
We handle both where it makes sense — the specialist will look at whether a repair will do or if replacement is the better value, and go over both options honestly.
Do you do commercial buildings?
Yes, we handle commercial and residential window projects — homes and businesses both.
What's your warranty?
We stand behind our work, and the windows come with a manufacturer warranty — the specialist will go over the exact coverage on the windows and our installation.
Do you offer financing / payment plans?
That's a good question — let me have the office confirm the current financing options and we'll go over them with you.
Are there rebates or tax credits for energy-efficient windows?
There can be, depending on the windows and where you live — the specialist can point you to the ENERGY STAR options, and we'd recommend confirming the current credits with a tax professional.
Do you install skylights?
Yes, we install skylights — the specialist can look at the spot and go over your options and a free quote.
Do you service my area?
We're local and cover your area — I'll grab your address and set up a free measurement for you.
⚠️ Safety first
- Broken or shattered window glass: Please keep everyone and pets away from the broken glass and don't pick up the shards with bare hands — they can cut you. We can board it up to keep your home secure until the new window's in, and get a specialist out to you.
- Window opening exposed to weather or unsecured after a break: Let's keep your home safe and dry — we can come board up the opening so it's secure against weather and anyone getting in, and then measure for the new window. I'll get that scheduled quickly.
- A sash or window has come loose or fallen, especially on an upper floor: Please keep people away from below and don't lean out of that opening — we'll get a specialist out to secure it safely. In the meantime, keep kids and pets away from the open window.
- Older home (pre-1978) with peeling paint around the windows: Good to know — in older homes the paint can contain lead, so please don't sand or scrape it yourself. Our team follows the safe practices for that, and we'll handle it properly when we're there.
- Someone cut on broken glass: If anyone's cut, please take care of that first and get medical help if it's deep — we'll handle securing the window and the glass once everyone's okay.
Know the terms
- Replacement vs. new-construction window
- A replacement goes into an existing opening in a finished home; new-construction goes into a framed opening before siding and drywall.
- Insert vs. full-frame replacement
- An insert drops into the sound existing frame; a full-frame takes it down to the rough opening when the frame is damaged or the size is changing.
- Double-hung / casement
- Double-hung has two sashes that slide up and down; casement cranks open like a door.
- Low-E / double pane / argon
- Energy features — a coating, two or three panes, and gas fill between them — that cut heat loss and drafts.
- U-factor / ENERGY STAR
- Ratings of how well a window insulates; ENERGY STAR marks efficient windows for the climate.
- Egress window
- A window sized by code so a person can escape or be rescued through it — required for basement bedrooms.
- Fogged glass
- Moisture showing up between the panes; a sign the sealed glass unit needs attention (never stated as a cause on a call).
